Why did I want to share my story? Not so much for my own sake but more for yours. How many people are really interested in reading the life story of a total stranger? However, if you did read mine, then maybe you are interested in knowing what the Christian faith is about. I am not a special case upon this earth who has had to believe in God perhaps only to survive in life.
I’m one among those many whom God has had to stop and make realize that I, too, need redemption, the removing of my sins.
God says in the Bible that there is no difference between men. Every one of them, rich and poor, big and small, fat and skinny, tall and short, have broken against God’s will and, therefore, are in need of redemption. Sin does not mean only our wrong deeds but also our unbelief and our rebellious basic attitude before Him. None of us is free from this. Each one of us is born with this load.
How can you make things right with God? You can’t. That is, not by your own strength or by anything you might do. Sorry! The gate is closed. There’s no way by which you can open it. It will remain closed no matter how much you may try to pull it open. And because man cannot by himself open the gate into fellowship with God, then someone else must do it – otherwise man is left outside. That is why God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to open for us the gate into God’s kingdom.
You’ve probably heard that Jesus was sentenced to death on the cross. On that cross, He was in the place where we should have been. God made His Son to carry the consequences of our sins. He punished Jesus instead of us. He did this because He loves every human being He has created. He does not want any one of them to be separated from Him. Jesus was pure and innocent. The blood He shed is the payment which God accepts as atonement for our evil deeds.
Is this really true? Or is it just a bit of drama that belongs to the ‘Christianity package’ but something that the modern man cannot possibly take seriously? Or, could it be true after all? For my part, I can assure you that it’s true! The Bible, God’s word, says: “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” (Romans 3:23–24)
The gate is open – what are you waiting for? Believe in what God has done for you. Ask Him to forgive your sins and enter into your life. You can say a simple prayer with those words, even silently in your heart. God will hear your prayer. When Jesus comes into your life, it’s like your life has only just begun.
Jesus says: “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10) Receive this life by faith, and you’ll be inside the gate.
